Taiwan -- Day 3 > Cing Jing 17-Nov-2013

Beautiful weather greets us as we wake up today. It's a sunny day! Today is the day we collect our rented car and drive our way from Taichung to CingJing.
Driving is recommended for this part of our journey, as we feel that its more convenient. We need not rush to make it in time to catch the buses to CingJing from Taichung and also it will be a hassle to tugged around our luggage while taking the buses. And its also economical as we have 4 of us to share the car rental cost.

We took the High Speed Rail (HSR) again from Kaohsiung to Taichung and collected our car right from the counter in Taichung High Speed Rail Station. We rented a Toyota Vios 1.5cc, just enough for the 4 of us + our luggages. We rented from CARPLUS and this is their website - http://www.car-plus.com.tw/EN/ugC_CarPrice.asp
And if you need more options, you can browse the Taichung HSR's website - http://www5.thsrc.com.tw/en/destinations/des_transfer.asp

CARPLUS's staffs are very friendly, they explained clearly the T&Cs and also offer to help us save our destinations into the GPS. But we assured them we're perfectly OK with our mandarin and would be able to use the GPS without any problem. Lastly, the staff gave us precise directions on how to get to the nearest petrol station and we are on our way!

After 90mins of driving, we arrived at the rest stop in CingJing, we decide to take a rest and check out our location and how far we are away from our accommodation tonight - VillaRelax (白熊屋民宿).
We took 30mins rest and took the chance to explore this rest stop, as we realize we were surrounded by greenery and the view was very picturesque.

Tea Shop

A pathway at the side with telescope for viewing the scenery below.

Posing for pic and enjoying the fresh air.

This dog is very fierce, barking if you wander too close to the shop.

Discovered this house further down the pathway.
But wasn't too sure if its a residence or commercial house.

After getting some directions from the staff at the rest stop, we arrived at our accommodation after 5mins of driving. Fresh air, beautiful scenery and a cute little house greeted us when we stepped out of the car. This cute house was the reception and the place where we will be having our breakfast.
There are many different kinds of rooms available at VillaRelax. Rooms for 2, 4, 8 people.
You can view them here -  http://www.villarelax.tw/homestay/
For locals who bring their pets along for holiday, VillaRelax also provide lodgings for their pets. Now, how sweet is that!
The room that we booked is actually a stand alone unit, that has its own balcony area and look just like a mini house. (景观花屋)We only paid NT3,850, as we visited during the off-peak season.
Booking of rooms are VillaRelax is only recommended if you are driving as there is quite a distance from the main road down to VillaRelax. The roads are quite steep and you won't want to be dragging down your luggages down that. Plus if you explore till late at night it would be quite dangerous to walk back.

Cute little displays outside the house.

1 of the highlights of staying here!
We get to play with the 3 handsome dogs that roam this place.

This is the mini balcony area outside our house.

The beautiful flower outside wall of our house.

Me outside at the balcony.

Interior of the house.

The windows are from ceiling to floor.

Furniture in the house have a old english feel.

This is the entrance leading to our house.

The view you get from VillaRelax.

After leaving our luggage in the room and some cam-whoring moments, we set off for CingJing Veterans Farm. Lucky for us, it wasn't too crowded and we were able to enjoy our time here and also able to take numerous photos without having many people "photo-bombing" you. However, many people drove here and we had a difficult time finding a parking space, end up, we parked quite high up on a hill and had to walk down.

While walking to the entrance of the CingJing Veterans Farm,
a walkway filled with food and fruits and all things tasty greeted us.

The sausages that uncle is grilling smells so good that we
can't help buying 1 to taste.

And it's really yummy!

And... we decide to have a small meal before we enter
the CingJing Veterans Farm.
Beef Stew Rice.

Bamboo Glutinous Rice.

Finally, we got our stamps to enter the CingJing Veterans Farm.

Cute little lambs greeted us with their meeeh...meeeh...meeh...

Guess what... these are trash bins.

The Little Pony.

Jump High, Dream High!

"Pre-wedding photos" LOL

Ben said: GF, let's take a pic with 冲上云霄 feel!
LOL...LOL...

How great the view is. You won't want to leave this place.

Milk Ice-cream. The taste of the milk is so fragrance
that you would feel like having a 2nd stick.

The building that all tourists must take
when visting CingJing Veterans Farm. haha.

Honey for the sweet tooth.

After finishing our itinerary at CingJing Veterans Farm, it was already dusk. And... we are hungry for dinner! We decide to check out the place that we passed by on our way up to CingJing Veterans Farm. And we are glad we did that, as that place had a few restaurants and we met a staff from a tour agency that is selling the star-gazing and sunrise viewing tour for the next morning. We decide to sign up for it. And we definitely do not regret it.

We chose al-fresco dining as we wanted to enjoy the
winter night.

i ordered Hot-pot for dinner to warm the tummy.

A group pic while waiting for food to be served.

We ordered pots of hot tea to for warming our bodies but
it cooled too fast as the cool air was blowing.

Still enjoying the tea after dinner.

Decorations above our table.

Taiwan -- Day 1 > Kaohsiung 15-Nov-2013

Woke up early for check-in and breakfast at Changi Airport Terminal 2 for our Taiwan trip. This long anticipated trip kept us energised even at this early hour, so we couldn't help cam-whoring! Good start to our trip, as the check-in staff of Tiger Air actually assigned us emergency exit seats. Which means more leg room! Hence, a comfortable 4.5hr flight to Taiwan. :) Filled our stomach with a hearty breakfast at Wang Jiao. Splendid view from our seats in the plane Upon arrival at Taoyuan International Airport , we took U-Bus 705 to Taoyuan High Speed Rail Station (HSR), and then took the HSR all the way to Kaohsiung ZuoYing Station, which took about 90mins. From ZuoYing HSR Station, we then shared a cab to our hotel, Legend Kaohsiung. Tickets for the shuttle bus to Taoyuan HSR Station Group shoot while waiting for the bus Comfy bus ride. All passengers had to be seated. Once all the seats are taken up, the remaining passengers

Taiwan -- Day 8 > Taipei 22-Nov-2013

Day 8, our last full day in Taiwan before we head for home tomorrow. Our itinerary today includes - Monga, Taipei 101 and Gongguan. Early morning we woke up and made our way to Long Shan Temple. This temple hosts a mixture of Buddhist, Taoist and folk deities such as Mazu, Goddess of Sea, and Guanyin, Buddhist Goddess of Mercy.  Take the MRT and alight at Longshan Temple Station, Exit 1. Upon coming out from Exit 1, you can see the temple across the street. Having Coffee at out hotel lobby while waiting for Veron and Ben. Couldn't resist getting this cute Chopper pouch.  View of temple upon exiting from the MRT station. Very beautiful man-made waterfall in the temple premises. After our temple visiting, we were all feeling very hungry and finally decide to settle our brunch at a shop selling rice and veggie. It actually like our Mixed Veggie rice, where rice or noodles is accompanied by side dishes which you get to choose from a wide v

Taiwan -- Day 4 > Cing Jing -> Puli 18-Nov-2013

We start today's itinerary at 4am today. By 3am we were up and getting ready to meet the tour group at 4am. Outside temperature was below 10 degree at that time and was freezing cold! What a relief that we have our own transport to the meeting point, if not we need to walk all the way out in the freezing and at that time there's no public transport operating yet. Our sleepy faces with hot drinks in hand to warm ourselves up.  Enlarge the pic and you will be able to see the stars in the sky! Waiting for the sun to rise and peek into a new day! The weather was so cold that we stayed in the bus most of the time. We only got down when it was almost time for the sun to rise.  Overall, 4 of us feel that the tour was worth the effort for waking up so early and bracing the cold weather without the appropriate wear. The view we had of the stars and the moment when the sun peek out from the horizon, the feeling was priceless. Its like you feel hope, warmth a
