Taiwan -- Day 4 > Cing Jing -> Puli 18-Nov-2013

We start today's itinerary at 4am today. By 3am we were up and getting ready to meet the tour group at 4am. Outside temperature was below 10 degree at that time and was freezing cold! What a relief that we have our own transport to the meeting point, if not we need to walk all the way out in the freezing and at that time there's no public transport operating yet.

Our sleepy faces with hot drinks in hand to warm ourselves up.

Enlarge the pic and you will be able to see the stars in the sky!

Waiting for the sun to rise and peek into a new day!

The weather was so cold that we stayed in the bus most of the time.
We only got down when it was almost time for the sun to rise.
Overall, 4 of us feel that the tour was worth the effort for waking up so early and bracing the cold weather without the appropriate wear. The view we had of the stars and the moment when the sun peek out from the horizon, the feeling was priceless. Its like you feel hope, warmth and love shining at you when we felt the first ray of the sun.

After the tour, we arrived back at VillaRelax, just in time for breakfast. Breakfast here was a simple meal, home-cooked with love by the owners of this lovely place. While waiting fr breakfast to be served, we found more little animals living here.

He is so cuddly, we couldn't help hugging him again and again.

Bunnies out to play in the morning sun.

Our breakfast! Toasts, Ham, Sunny-side up, salad.
Healthy and yummy breakfast. And you can always ask
for second helpings.

The reception area is filled with vintage and unique little stuffs.

Behind us is the fireplace. This place really gives a cozy feel.

Admiring the beautiful landscape.

Enjoying a belly rub from J.

Cam-whoring inside our room again.

The view from our room is so breathtaking,
we don't even feel like leaving.

And my little travel bear, Marc, joined us for some photo taking.

We checked out soon after our breakfast. Although we wished we had more time here but we had other itineraries to cover. Next destination is still within CingJing, the Little Swiss Garden. But we were a little disappointed with it as many parts of the garden are bald. But i guess we came at the wrong season, as maybe winter many of the flowers were not in bloom.

The entrance to Little Swiss Garden.

Captain Neko.

Matron of the Candy Shop.

They give away drinks discount coupons when you purchase the admission ticket.
And so we made our purchase.

After spending about close to an hour at the garden, we decide to have our lunch at Mos Burger before we begin our hour plus drive to Puli.

Taiwan has the most Mos Burger outlets outside of Japan.

And we are nuggets lovers.

After about an hour plus drive, we reach Puli and found our guesthouse for tonight's stay. But sadly, the owner is out for lunch. So we parked our car and begin to explore the guesthouse's surroundings. And found a cozy cafe to rest and have a some drinks and of course food! The staffs here were very friendly, and comply to switch on the fan as we were feeling quite hot after walking over from the guesthouse.

The Devil Cafe.

Lovely Tea Set containing the tea I ordered.

Interior ceiling of the cafe.

And a montage of us with the food and drinks we ordered.

We managed to check-in after returning from the cafe. Below some pics of our room. The owner, Ken-san was very friendly and introduced many places of interest nearby. However, he actually went into our room while we were out to place more blankets for us. Although, his intentions were good, but I feel it wrong of him to go into our rooms while we were out. He should instead pass us the extra blankets when we are back.
Anyway, this is the guesthouse website - http://www.guesthousepuli.com/

Our beds are on the floor like tatami style.
Owner (Ken-san) of this guesthouse is a Japanese.

We choose a room that came with attached toilet.

At around 3.30pm, we set off for Sun, Moon Lake which is 30mins drive away from Puli.

We bought many snack from this stall in front of the
Wen-wu temple. Aunty sells very yummy pork slices and sausages.
And we bought herbal eggs from the a-ma beside her stall.
Aunty told us the government is going to close off this vendor area, and soon
they won't be able to earn a living here anymore.

Sunset @ sun, moon lake

The entrance of the majestic Wen Wu Temple.

And these 2 have to end the trip with another jump-shot.

Leaving the lovely sunset behind us, we drove back in the direction of Puli Town to stop by the Paper Dome. If you are in Puli Town, please do not give this place a miss as its really pretty, especially at night.

This is the Paper Dome, isn't it pretty?

Taiwan places of attractions like to give out discount coupons
whenever you purchase their admission tickets.
In this case, they actually give out cash vouchers for use in the cafe inside.
So you are actually enjoying the place for free and paying for your coffee instead.
And it doesn't hurt that the cakes and drinks are delicious.

This is the interior of the Paper Dome.
The "bench" we sitting on and the walls behind us are all
made of paper. You have to visit to believe it.

Before we made our way back to the guesthouse. We drove around Puli Town to search for the bubble tea drink that was recommended by Channel U. Happy to say that their drink truly is very delicious. Its quite different from those bubble teas that you find in Singapore. Their drink is made from blending the fruit/food thus its more like milkshake texture. But because the fruits are naturally more flavorful in Taiwan, every sip you take, you will feel the flavor of the drink bursting in your mouth.
And even the pearls are very yummy. Its chewy and you can taste the flavor of the pearls. I order the yam drink with yam flavored pearls and you can taste the sweetness of yam when chewing the pearls.
Definitely worth a try when you are in Puli.
Bubble Tea Address - 南投县埔里镇南兴路279号 (279, Nanxing Road, Puli Town)

Victory looks upon finding the shop and getting our drinks.

Good night to all here. 4 of us in the room is snoring away and dreaming of what awaits us tomorrow. More good food and scenery maybe...

Taiwan -- Day 8 > Taipei 22-Nov-2013

Day 8, our last full day in Taiwan before we head for home tomorrow. Our itinerary today includes - Monga, Taipei 101 and Gongguan. Early morning we woke up and made our way to Long Shan Temple. This temple hosts a mixture of Buddhist, Taoist and folk deities such as Mazu, Goddess of Sea, and Guanyin, Buddhist Goddess of Mercy.  Take the MRT and alight at Longshan Temple Station, Exit 1. Upon coming out from Exit 1, you can see the temple across the street. Having Coffee at out hotel lobby while waiting for Veron and Ben. Couldn't resist getting this cute Chopper pouch.  View of temple upon exiting from the MRT station. Very beautiful man-made waterfall in the temple premises. After our temple visiting, we were all feeling very hungry and finally decide to settle our brunch at a shop selling rice and veggie. It actually like our Mixed Veggie rice, where rice or noodles is accompanied by side dishes which you get to choose from a wide v
